Welcome to my site
I am a website developer based in Edinburgh, Scotland with over 3 years commercial experience in website/application development and data publishing. I currently work as a Web Developer for the global search engine optimisation and digital marketing company bigmouthmedia based in the popular Leith area of the city.
Development
My experience encompasses a number of programming languages and techniques, although my main focus is XHTML, CSS and ASP.NET (1 & 2). I am fluent in both C# and VB.NET and I have experience using the .NET AJAX Control Toolkit to provide enhanced functionality to web applications. I am also familiar with JavaScript and HTML DOM for additional client-side development.
For all .NET based development, I use Visual Studio 2005 and have in the past used VS 2003. I also utilise MS Expression Web 2 for any static XHTML and CSS coding but have experience with a number of alternatives such as TopStyle 3, Dreamweaver and FrontPage.
As for database solutions, I am a capable SQL Server developer and generally employ SQL Server 2005 for any ASP.NET based websites I work on. However, I also have experience with Filemaker and MS Access. In addition, I have extensive experience developing client-server desktop applications using 4D.

Design
I also have some experience with design applications such as Fireworks and MS Expression Studio although I would like to develop these skills further. I have used Flash in the past, however for accessibility and search engine optimisation reasons I usually avoid the use of Flash content unless appropriate to the requirements of the project.
Future
With the number of new technologies emerging, it can be difficult to keep up to date. However, I believe it is important to be aware of new developments and I hope to get the opportunity to expand my skills to include .NET 3.5, Silverlight and LINQ in the near future.
