Professional Profile


I have over 3 years commercial experience with development of web applications and sites using ASP.NET and XHTML/CSS. Throughout that time I have always developed these in conjunction with SQL Server. I also have several years experience with 4D, a RDBMS which is compatible with both PC and Macintosh.

In recent years I have taken on more responsibility and have become involved with both the sales and project management side of things. I enjoy developing an ongoing professional relationship with clients and helping them to drive their business through their websites.

Achievements:
  1. Development and deployment of a number of websites ranging from basic static XHTML only to full ecommerce, highly data driven sites with full back-end CMS systems. Examples available on request.
  2. Concept, design and development of a unique combination of standardised web components and CMS functionality which can be easily customised/extended to improve Rapid Application Development and allow the company to submit more competitive tenders for future work.
  3. Worked with the Systems Development team to design and develop a unique Project Workflow Control System from concept through to testing.

Responsibilities:
  1. Planning and development of all web projects within the company while ensuring that deadlines are met and quality maintained.
  2. Responsible for primary CSS work within the company. Working with the web designers who create visuals from which I then create the CSS.
  3. Analysis and management of client data to create the most suitable application structure to meet their needs.
  4. Working alongside web project managers to produce accurate scheduling and appropriate costing on a project by project basis.
  5. Managing a small team of web developers; assigning work, providing assistance when required and making sure that work produced meets internal standards.
  6. Meeting with potential clients to discuss their needs, gather requirements and provide specialised reinforcement to the sales team.
  7. Establishing internal procedures to allow the team to work together and standardise development methodologies.
  8. Management of the company’s web servers and backup procedures, including deployment of sites using IIS.
  9. Providing ongoing internal technical support and making decisions regarding hardware and software strategy for the company.


Cashman Bell Associates, Edinburgh

Web/Systems Developer

July 2005 – October 2006

Achievements:
  1. Developed an in-house software system using 4D to assist with the creation of multiple personalised versions of a single core product catalogue. Using SOAP I was able to combine 4D with the existing SQL Server database.
  2. Involved with various stages of development on a number of websites and other projects from CSS and XHMTL work to .NET based programming.

Responsibilities:
  1. Full development lifecycle on a number of projects from application design through development to testing and ongoing support.
  2. Development of a number of internal projects to help the company’s catalogue production team meet their objectives.
